After lunch, transfer to hotel. Being your city tour in Addis with a drive up north to Mount Entoto, the highest peak overlooking the magnificent city. Descending down to Addis, proceed to Ethnographic museum, which displays a very large collection of Ethiopian crafts and items of historical interest. Next, visit to the last emperor, Haile Selassie’s room. He was imprisoned in 1974 by revolutionaries, and died the following year under mysterious circumstances. After breakfast, transferred to the airport for flight to Bahir Dar. Next, you will take a boat cruise on the largest lake in Ethiopia- Lake Tana to visit the 14th century Monastery of Ura Kidane Mihret. This is the most famous of the Zege Peninsula monasteries with a very beautiful painted maqdas and priceless collection of crosses as well as crowns. Spot the little huts decorated with colorful scenes from the Bible and lives of the saints. After lunch, you will visit to the village of Tis Isat to see the Blue Nile falls. It presents a spectacular show with an intense gash from more than forty-five meters(150feet) peak, producing rainbows across the gorge. After breakfast, drive to Gondar through the spectacular route around Lake Tana. Gondar is a town founded in 1636 by the great Emperor Fassiladas. Set in a landscape of incomparable beauty, it was the Royal Capitalof Ethiopia. In the afternoon, visit the Castles and Churches built by Emperor Fassiladas and his decendants. Proceed to the fascinating Debre Birhan Selassie Church, under one of the UNESCO’s World heritage. It was built by Emperor Eyasu II (also known as Birhan Seged, "He to Whom the Light Bows") in the 17th Century. Enjoy the designs of the walls and ceilings with scenes of Biblical lore and medieval history. Next, visit to the Fasilides’ bath where the Ethiopians celebrate the Timkat-Feast of the Epiphany on the 19 January. This is an extremely colourful three-day festival commemorating the baptism of Christ. After breakfast, drive up to Sanqaber,a segment the Semen Mountain situated about 300Km north of Bahir Dar. The Semien Mountains are one of Africa’s largest ranges and termed as the most wild and spectacular of all Ethiopian Landscapes-‘the roof of Africa’. Enjoy your picnic lunch by a beautiful site. You will be able to encounter birds and probably some game like the endemic Gelada Baboon. You can get a close encounter with the animals. Lastly, return back to Gondar. After breakfast, take a flight to Lalibela. It is also known as “Africa’s petra’. It is the jewel in the crown of Ethiopia, the home of the most famous churches and the scene of so many major religious ceremonies. Visit to the underground rock hewn Churches of Laliblela which are called the “Eighth Wonder of the World”. It is a well known site of a chain of rock carved churches built with astonishing architectural designs and interior decorations. They were hewn out of solid rock between 800 - 1200 AD and are still active worship places. In the evening, visit to Abyssinia Coffee House and enjoy their traditional coffee ceremonies. It is the world’s favourite beverage which actually originated in Ethiopia about a thousand years ago. Take a flight to Addis after breakfast. Have your lunch at a Chinese Restaurant. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner at own expenses. After breakfast, embark on a coach to the Great Rift Valley. It is a system of down faulted through starting from the Jordan-Dead sea Rift, the Red sea and the Gulf of Aden, and continues southwards through East African Rift up to Mozambique. This feature of the earth crust extends approximately 6000Kms in a generally north-south direction. In Ethiopia there are seven spectacular lakes along the route. The beautiful Ziway Lake is the home of abundant wild life and variety of birds such as flamingo. After lunch, drive towards Yirgalem, passing through a number of coffee and various fruit cultivating towns with splendid greenery. Proceed to the African style lodge, nestled between coffee fields and lush vegetation in Yirgalem town. It is a nature retreat of astounding beauty and tranquility.. The forest is home to diverse and prolifi flora harboring over 100 species of birds and mammals like jackals and hyena. Activities include hiking, visiting to their native villages etc. After a hearty breakfast, drive to Awassa, an attractive town in a beautiful setting posed at the very edge of Lake Awassa. Visit the fish market to see the hustle bustle of the life of Ethiopians. Return back to Addis Ababa. At night, we will attend a folklore dinner. You will be able to taste several national dishes and watch dances of the various ethnic group of Ethiopia. After a hearty breakfast, morning at leisure. In the afternoon, visit to the National museum to see one of its most famous residents-Lucy, a proto-human skull discovered in Ethiopia in 1974 and believed to be 3.5 million years old. Next, drive through the largest Mercato market. Its time to do some last minute shopping here! Next, transferred to the airport for departure.
